Custom Report Builder
Not available yet. DocLock does not currently include a custom or ad-hoc report builder. There is no screen for designing your own reports, choosing arbitrary fields, or saving custom report layouts. This page explains what's available today and how to get the data you need in the meantime.
What you can use instead
DocLock provides five ready-made reports that cover the most common reporting needs. Each one has its own filters and an Export button so you can pull the data out for your own analysis:
- Document Activity Report — views, edits, and downloads over time, by workspace and document.
- Document Compliance Report — approval and review status, overdue and expired items, and retention schedules.
- User Activity Report — per-user uploads, edits, views, downloads, and shares.
- Workspace Storage Report — storage usage and quotas across workspaces, with growth trends.
- Audit Trail Report — a chronological log of every document action.
Building your own view from exports
If you need a custom layout, the practical approach today is:
- Open the standard report that's closest to what you need.
- Apply its built-in filters (time period, workspace, department, status, or action, depending on the report) to narrow the data.
- Click Export to download the data.
- Combine or reshape the exported data in your own spreadsheet or analytics tool.
Between them, the five reports expose document activity, compliance, user behavior, storage, and a full audit log — which covers most reporting questions without a dedicated builder.
How to open the reports
All reports live under Reports & Analytics in the left navigation menu and require the view
reports permission (REPORTS.VIEW). If you don't see the Reports section, contact your administrator.
Troubleshooting
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Where is the custom report builder? | It isn't built yet. Use the five standard reports and their Export options. |
| Can I save a custom report layout? | Not at this time. Re-apply the report's filters each visit, or export and save the data externally. |
| I need a field that isn't in any report | Export the closest report and combine it with other exports in a spreadsheet; if it's still missing, ask your administrator to log the request. |
