Workspaces & Vaults
A workspace is a scoped collection of documents with its own members, activity, tags, and permissions — think of it as a team's room for its files. DocLock also gives you a private Personal Vault, a company-wide Global Resources area, and a sealed Official Records store. This section explains each of them and how to work inside them.

|---|---|
| All Workspaces | The full grid of workspaces you can access, plus creating and editing workspaces. |
| My Workspaces | How the list is scoped to the workspaces you belong to ("mine vs. all"). |
| Inside a Workspace | Browsing documents, uploading, the Activity/Pinned/Members sidebar, and managing members. |
| Workspace Roles | The six built-in roles (Owner, Manager, Editor, Reviewer, Commenter, Viewer) and custom roles. |
| Personal Vault | Your private, encrypted workspace and its password gate. |
| Official Records | Signed, immutable records with retention and audit trails. |
How the pieces fit together
- Team workspaces (like HR, Finance, Legal) hold each team's working documents. You see one because you're a member — see My Workspaces.
- What you can do inside any workspace depends on your role — see Workspace Roles.
- Global Resources is a public, read-only workspace shared with everyone in the company.
- Personal Vault is private to you, protected by a password gate — see Personal Vault.
- Official Records is where finalized, signed documents are sealed and kept with full audit trails — see Official Records.
Tips
- New to this section? Start with All Workspaces, then open one and read Inside a Workspace.
- Can't find a workspace? You're probably not a member yet — see the troubleshooting in My Workspaces.
- Need to keep something completely private? Use your Personal Vault.
