Favorites

Favorites are a personal way to flag the documents and folders you care about most. In DocLock, "favorite" is the star you'll see beside every document and folder in the document table. Starring something marks it as a favorite for you.

Good to know: Favorites are not a separate screen with its own route. There is no documents/favorites page in the application. Instead, the star is a flag you set directly on a row in any document list, and you sort or scan for your starred items there.

Starring a document

Where favorites live

Favorites appear wherever the document table is shown — most commonly on All Documents and inside a workspace. You need permission to view documents (DOCUMENTS.VIEW) to use them.

The star is the very first column of the table (and on each card in Grid view). A filled, amber star means the item is a favorite; an empty star means it isn't.

Marking a favorite

  1. Open a document list such as All Documents.
  2. Find the document or folder you want.
  3. Click the star in the first column. It fills in to show the item is now a favorite.
  4. Click the star again at any time to remove the favorite.

You can also do this from the ⋮ (more) menu on a row, which shows Add to Favorites or Remove from Favorites depending on the current state. The same option is available on folder menus.

Finding your favorites

Because there's no dedicated Favorites page, use the document table to surface starred items:

  • Click the star column header area / sort the table so starred items group together, or
  • Scan any list — favorites stand out with their filled amber star.

Favorites vs. Pinned

These two look similar but do different things:

Use a favorite for your own quick access; use Pin to Workspace when you want the whole team to find an important file fast.

Tips

  • Star a document right after you open it so you can get back to it later without searching.
  • Removing a favorite never deletes or changes the document — it only clears your personal flag.
