Trash

The Trash screen holds documents and folders you've deleted. Nothing here is gone for good right away — items stay in Trash so you can restore them if you change your mind. Items are permanently deleted after 30 days, or sooner if you remove them yourself.

Trash overview

How to open this screen

From the left navigation menu, open Document Explorer → Trash, or go directly to the route documents/trash.

  • Access required: the trash permission (DOCUMENTS.TRASH). This is a separate permission from viewing documents, so not everyone who can browse documents can open Trash.

What you see on this page

  • A header with a trash icon and the reminder that items in trash are permanently deleted after 30 days. When Trash isn't empty, an Empty Trash button appears on the right.
  • A search box to filter the list, plus a count of how many items are shown.
  • A table of deleted items with columns for Name, Type, Workspace, Location (the original path), and Deleted (when and by whom). Folders are marked with a Folder badge.
  • When Trash is empty, you'll see a green "Trash is empty" message.

Each row has two quick actions: Restore (the undo arrow) and Delete permanently (the ×).

Restoring an item

  1. Find the document or folder in the list (use the search box to filter if needed).
  2. Click the Restore (undo) button on its row.
  3. The item returns to its original location and leaves the Trash.

To restore several at once, tick their checkboxes and use Restore Selected in the bar that appears at the bottom.

Permanently deleting items

Warning: Permanent deletion cannot be undone. The item is gone for good.

  1. One item: click the × (Delete permanently) button on its row, then confirm in the dialog.
  2. Several items: tick their checkboxes and click Delete Permanently, then confirm.
  3. Everything: click Empty Trash in the header and confirm to remove all items at once.

Each of these actions opens a confirmation dialog so you don't delete something by accident.

Tips

  • If you deleted something by mistake, restore it promptly — it's only kept for 30 days.
  • Use the Location column to confirm you're restoring the right copy before you click.
  • Only empty the Trash when you're certain you no longer need anything in it.
